An electronic device has once again saved a life. This time, the wearer of the Apple Watch used the SOS feature to seek for assistance after becoming caught in an icy river, and the Apple Watch assisted in alerting emergency authorities.

The event happened on June 15 in the Columbia River close to The Dallas , Oregon, according to an Apple Insider article. In the river's chilly waters, a woman had gone swimming. Her foot, however, became snagged in the river's bottom pebbles. Given that she was unable to escape and was therefore trapped, this put her in a very perilous predicament .She was trapped in the chilly water.
She then called emergency services using the SOS feature on her Apple Watch. In response to the emergency, the City of The Dallas Police Department launched the rescue effort. According to the police report, the swimmer was discovered exhausted and exhibiting symptoms of hypothermia. The Columbia River was experiencing rain at the time of the occurrence, and the water's temperature was around 13 degrees Celsius.
This isn't the first time the Apple Watch has helped save a life; a man who was trapped under a frozen river's ice previously utilised the SOS feature to ask for assistance.
