According to a recent study, traditional Chinese medicine may be superior than Western medications for treating children with respiratory infections.
Between the ages of two and six, 351 children with respiratory illnesses were analysed by researchers and placed into three groups. Yupineng, a traditional Chinese medicine, was given to the first group; a standard respiratory infection treatment was given to the second group; and a placebo was given to the third.
Three out of four children showed improvement after getting Yupinfeng therapy, which was discovered to be the most effective.
"Our study's careful planning is its main merit. It is the largest multicenter trial to demonstrate that YPF, a TCM treatment for RRTIs, can be equally as effective as an allopathic medication.
It is a significant step in spreading the advantages of TCM throughout the world, according to research co-author Rong Ma in a press statement.
In Pediatric Investigation, Dr. Julian Allen argues in favour of traditional Chinese medicine.
"Just because we don't fully comprehend a drug's mechanism of action does not imply that it is ineffective. The assistant editor of the journal writes, "This well-designed RCT could be a significant step in overcoming western scepticism toward TCM and gaining the advantages of its all-encompassing effects.
Pediatric Investigation published the findings.
